Our Projects & Partners
SAVS Works in our Community Every Day SAVS is committed to the health and well being of every unsheltered person in Sonoma County. We love being out in the community – working hands-on, delivering practical solutions that improve the lives of the unsheltered and all Sonoma County citizens. Here are a few of the things we are working on right now.
A Proven Track Record
Sonoma Applied Village Services (SAVS) is a small, highly effective agency with a proven track record of street outreach to Sonoma County's most vulnerable homeless residents.
We are part of the communities we serve, and our outcomes equal any larger agency. We use small grants and reserves to provide essential services for Spanish-speaking clients. We serve individuals experiencing a range of complex circumstances, including mental illness, substance use disorders, and generational poverty.
We work with clients of diverse racial, gender and sexual identities. One of our staff members provides services with HomeFirst in the Sonoma Valley. We add our clients to the Coordinated Entry and HMIS databases, and have housing problem solving conversations. We also help with food stamps, general assistance, social security and MediCal applications; legal issues, emergency shelter, and identification papers.
Our goal is to build more resilient, collaborative and impactful services in Sonoma County.
SAVS History Since 2018, SAVS has provided compassionate outreach to our local unhoused community, meeting people where they are with essential supplies, food, and support during extreme weather and law enforcement sweeps. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we partnered with the Sebastopol Grange and the Sonoma County Food Bank to deliver more than 20,000 warm meals when other services were unavailable. SAVS also advocates for safer shelter and housing solutions, including tiny home villages and sanctioned encampments. In 2022, we operated Horizon Shine Village, a 24/7 RV community in Sebastopol, which provided stability for nearly two years before closing in March 2024 to make way for permanent affordable housing. Today, SAVS our three outreach workers serve individuals in Sonoma Valley and South Santa Rosa to get them into housing. Our food program provides 50–60 meals each week and we offer additional support during extreme weather. We proudly serve homeless Spanish-speakers and immigrants.
